At Lost Trail Winery and Vineyard, we believe life is better lived outdoors and wine enjoyed in hand-crafted, small batches. Our grapes are carefully chosen to bring you an experience as uplifting and invigorating as your time spent in nature.
Happy trails! We are Chris and Kim Rohr. Both Northeast Ohio natives, we met in the corporate world following Chris’ military career in the United States Marine Corps, and developed a shared love for visiting wineries. Fast forward 16 years — our family has grown to include four boys — as has our passion for making wine and creating a sustainable foundation for our family for years to come.
We are a Christ-centered, Veteran-owned, Adirondack camp-inspired winery. Much of our inspiration for our winery comes from our love of and family history in the Adirondack Mountains of upstate New York. Summer trips to the Adirondacks are a fourth-generation tradition we continue with our boys, and it brings us the utmost joy to share our passion for hiking and nature with them. We hope that when you visit us we can provide an experience that will encourage you to admire the outdoors just as much as we do!
Our winery is situated on 13 acres located in Marlboro Township on the outskirts of Canton, Ohio. Since its purchase in 2008 it has undergone quite a transformation from a vacant lot to one that is now home to our 3,800 square foot agricultural building that encompasses our farm equipment storage, wine production for vinting, as well as a 500 square foot Adirondack-inspired tasting room with many handcrafted touches. The tasting room patio offers views of an adjacent 5-acre pond and all the wildlife that comes along with it.
Our vineyard features a hybrid Frontenac Gris grape varietal that was developed in the state of Minnesota with plans to expand with another vineyard in the future. We also have an assortment of fruit trees on the property that include apples, pears and peaches with plans to feature them in fruit wines. Additionally, we are in the early stages of an apiary with the potential to produce mead from the bee hives on the property.
Historically, this property was the site of a maintenance facility for a strip mine as well as a railroad to transport the raw materials to their next destination with the original State street railroad overpass that was erected in 1934. Today the remains of the railroad lie underneath a stream tributary which runs into the Nimishillen Creek.
Our mission is to provide hand-crafted, small-batch wines in a nature-loving and inspired environment in which we are able to humbly serve others.
We strive to make all of our customers feel as though they are part of our trail family, through us and/or the connections they forge with others while they are here.
We are deeply rooted in servitude, integrity, honor, faith and fellowship.
