General Manager Kyle

Kyle was born and raised in Canton, Ohio. Throughout his professional career, he's gained sales and service experience,  most recently managing two local, successful establishments. At Lost Trail, Kyle has oversight of all aspects of the tasting room including, but not limited to, designing our monthly rotating drink menu, scheduling and  inventory management.

Kyle, also known to friends and family as KJ, answered a few questions for us so you could get to know him a little better.  He's looking forward to meeting everyone during their next visit to the tasting room.

Q. What is your favorite thing about Lost Trail?

A.  I love the natural setting. There's something special about being outside, surrounded by trees and landscape with the firepit at the center that makes you feel more relaxed. That kind of atmosphere offers many opportunities to create memories, and I'm looking forward to elevating that.

Q. What is your philosophy on customer service?

A.  Treat people the way you'd want to be treated if you were the guest. Noticing the small things before someone has to ask makes people feel comfortable and welcomed, and making sure the experience feels more personal than transactional.  Good hospitality should feel effortless to the guest even when a lot of care is going into it behind the scenes.

Q. What is your approach to mixology?

A.  I specialize in bourbon-based cocktails, but I've always believed in having a wide foundation. My approach is balanced; respect the spirits, keep the drink well made and approachable, and make sure it fits the moment and setting. Technique and knowledge are important, but sometimes the best cocktail is the one that make guests say, "this is exactly what I needed."

Q. How do you plan to incorporate your skillset at the winery?

A.  I'd love to bring experiences that feel true to the winery including mixology and guided cocktail classes that pair well with the wines and outdoor setting, introducing a small, but thoughtful selection of cocktails that compliment what's already being offered. Bourbon-forward options can work really nicely alongside wine, and I'm excited about creating opportunities for guests to learn a little and enjoy a lot.

Q. Is there a drink you've made you're particularly proud of?

A.  One of the drinks I'm proudest of is a well-balanced bourbon cocktail, simple and smoked, with notes of black walnut and citrus and a touch of sweetness without becoming heavy. I like creating drinks that feel special without needing a long explanation, something that just lands well the first time someone tries it.

Q. Tell us a fun fact about yourself.

A.  I'm a big believer that the best conversations happen over a well-made drink, be it wine, bourbon or otherwise. This philosophy has stood the test of time. Whether it's behind the bar or sitting outside at a place like Lost Trail, I think a good drink has a way of slowing people down and opening things up.

Q. Is there anything else you'd like to share?

A. I'm genuinely excited about the opportunity to bring strong hospitality and thoughtful beverage experiences to a place that already has so much character. I want to support the team, create memorable moments for guests and contribute in a way that feels natural to the winery's spirit.
